Bedbug eggs

Hello everyone. In my last blog, I mentioned the life cycle of bedbugs, but this time I would like to focus on the starting point of their life cycle: eggs.

Bed bug eggs are characterized by an oval shape with a round lid on one side . They also have pink eyes that can be seen faintly inside . The darker the pink eyes , the closer they are to being laid!

Now let's take a closer look at the characteristics of eggs.

1. Size and shape: Length: about 1mm (about 1/20th the size of a grain of rice)
• Shape: Oval, slightly rounded at one end .
• Colour: Milky white, translucent immediately after spawning .

2. Egg Laying Sites Bedbugs lay their eggs in the following locations:
• Mattress seams • Furniture tears • Behind wallpaper • Under carpets

3. Number and frequency of eggs laid • They lay 5-12 eggs per spawning .
• A female bed bug can lay 200-500 eggs in her lifetime .
• If they are well nourished, they will lay eggs every 2-3 days .

4. Time to Hatching • They usually hatch within 10 days to 2 weeks .
• Lower temperatures may result in longer time to hatch .

5. Tolerance of eggs • They can withstand desiccation and remain viable for several months .
• Resistant to common insecticides .

6. How to detect • It is difficult to detect with the naked eye .
• Using a black light (UV) will make the eggs fluoresce and make them easier to find .

If you find bed bug eggs, it's important to take action immediately!
